The Pastoruri glacier is located in the Huascaran National Park, to the south of the Cordillera Blanca, in the Ancash department. It is located at 5000 meters above sea level. In 1985 it was declared Natural Heritage of Humanity. The name “Pastoruri” means “Pampas at the back” or “Pasture inside”. The glacier is easy to visit although it is better if you have an expert guide. Currently, although it has been damaged by climate changes, it is visited by adventurous tourists from all the world. The climate in Pastoruri glacier is warm and dry during the day, and cold at night. Its temperature goes from 68°F (20°C) to 41°F (5°C).
