The best period to visit Jaen is in September, since it's part of the less rainy season and the celebration of Senor de Huamantanga takes place, so you can participate in the activities.

This square is considered one of the most beautiful of the coutry. You can find green areas, trees, palm trees, and places to sit down and a fountain in plate shape of great size in the center. From there you can admire the Iglesia Catedral, the municipality and the mountains that surround the city.

It's a modern architecture construction where you can see the image of the Huamantanga Christ, patron saint of the city and the image of la Virgen del Rosario, an sculpture that dates from the first years of the colonial period. The central nave has a height of 15 meters. Inside you can appreciate colored stained glass windows that also decorate the tower of the clock, that has nearly 30 meters of height, and you can admire it in one side of the main entrance.

It's the emblem museum of Jaen city. Inside you will find archaeological remains of the pakamuros and the main cultures of the Amazonia as pottery, goldsmithing, tools, among others. You will also appreciate anthropology exhibitions, art, nature, paleontology and archaeology.

With mostly one hectare, the bothanic garden harbors more than 200 species of flora from the region (native and introduced later) as orchids, begonias and many others, among the ones some endangered. Inside there is a greenhouse for the plants that do not require sun light to live. Probably you are not the only visitor, since it's a very visited place by locals and foreigners. A peculiarity of the garden, besides the nice environments, is that you can acquire at an affordable price varieties of flowers and plants that are located inside.

This misty forest of lush nature is an area of preservation for the endangered species. You will be fascinated to see the incomparable Gallito de las Rocas, one of the most representative bird species of the Peruvian jungle, or the magic tapir, protagonist of legends of the Amazonia.
It's pork meat fried in its own fat. It's served with corn of cut kernels off or husked wheat, with onion sauce as you like.
It's a soup meat that is seasoned with garlic, onion and mint, that you add potatoes, cheese, eggs and paico (a spice)
It's dough prepared with choclo (corn) and a seasoning of garlic, butter, cheese, and egg yolk. It's put on a panca (corn leaf) that has cheese slices. It's cooked steamed. It's a delicious appetizer.
There are other dishes that you should taste as mechado de res, shurumbo, picante de papa con cuy frito, carne seca con chifles. You can take it with one of the typical drinks of Jaen as guayusa and rompope.
