To get around Arequipa, tourists have two options: public bus, usually regulated by the municipality or the appropriate authority, or taxi, driven by a citizen who provides a service.
● Public bus: This is the most popular form of transportation within the city, as well as being very affordable. The fare, also called a "fare," is usually no more than S/5 per person. Public buses have several bus stops where they pick up passengers, so the trip can be a bit slow.
● Taxi: This is the fastest form of transportation within the city. There are no bus stops, so you can go straight to your desired destination. You can hail them on the avenue, call a company, or use an app. The fare here is usually higher, often exceeding S/10.
