Nevado Pastoruri Bus

The Pastoruri glacier is located in the Huascaran National Park, to the south of the Cordillera Blanca, in the Ancash department. It is located at 5000 meters above sea level. In 1985 it was declared Natural Heritage of Humanity. The name “Pastoruri” means “Pampas at the back” or “Pasture inside”. The glacier is easy to visit although it is better if you have an expert guide. Currently, although it has been damaged by climate changes, it is visited by adventurous tourists from all the world. The climate in Pastoruri glacier is warm and dry during the day, and cold at night. Its temperature goes from 68°F (20°C) to 41°F (5°C).

- To visit the glacier, you can walk or go horseback riding. Also, you can rent coats and boots. If you are hangry, you can buy soups or typical dishes near the glacier.

- It is important you carry winter clothes (coat, sweater, gloves, scarf and a hat), trekking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, bottled water, altitude sickness pills, coca leaves and lemon candies.

The best time to visit Pastoruri glacier is from january to december. You'll be able to enjoy more of the glacier because of the nice weather.
